Renmark Boat Run – March 26/27, 2022 – Itinerary

FRIDAY NIGHT
For everyone who will be arriving at Renmark on Friday we will be having a Casual Catch Up in the Renmark Hotel Sports Bar from 5:30pm onwards.

SATURDAY MORNING
8am
The Renmark Lions Club will be cooking a Bacon and Egg Breakfast at the cost of $10 per serving. Thanks to Riverland Country Style Meats for supplying their Bacon and eggs. Tea and Coffee will also be available.

Please bring cash (small notes) as there may or may not be EFTPOS facilities.

The Official Registration Area will have a Team Member ready to provide you with your Event Bag, T-Shirt and any Pre-Ordered shirts and hoodies.
You may also be required to QR Code Check In to comply with current COVID regulations.

9:45am
Entrant’s Briefing will be under the trees in Arthur Shepherd Memorial Park adjacent the Boat Ramps and the Big 4 Renmark Riverfront Holiday Park on Patey Drive.

Launch your boat before or after the Briefing. Boats are to be in the water ready for an 10:30am Start.

Key Points: It’s approximately 35km from Renmark to The Woolshed with no fuel or convenience stops on the way so ensure you have enough fuel and supplies.

The river has a number of sand bars and other hazards marked so do not cut corners and heed the warnings placed in the couple of areas to be avoided.

10:15am
Assemble from out the front of the Park adjacent Big 4.

Please commence the run on the signal detailed in the Driver’s Briefing and travel behind the designated Lead Boats. The start will be conducted by the two Skicrafts of Shayne and Rob and they will be simultaneously sounding the start horns at the time of departure.

We ask that if you are attending the run in a newer boat please await the departure of all the Old School Boats and stay to the Back of the Pack for the entire run to The Woolshed.

11:30am – 12.30pm
Boats begin to arrive at The Woolshed and we ask that you take your time and be patient in parking your boat. We recommend you bring Fenders for both sides of your boat and consider using a Rear Anchor as parking will be tight. Please pack in tightly to make room for all still following behind on the Run.

Spend as long as you like enjoying the view, The Woolshed the Food Vans, and the company.

Pete’s Pizza will be cooking our meals. We have a private area at the Woolshed with private access to our own bar to hopefully minimize wait times.

Make the return trip to Renmark at your leisure… cruising or skiing, whatever you want.

SATURDAY NIGHT
We will be having Dinner at the Renmark Club from 5:30pm onwards. This is once again an informal dinner. Order off the standard menu. We will gather and have a few drinks after dinner.

SUNDAY
Spend the day relaxing, skiing or cruising. For those interested to know departing the Park and heading downstream you could pass through Lock 5 and make your way to the Riverland Wine Centre on Pike Creek. We have a 70 head limit for our first visit to the Wine Centre. We also have to advise the lockmaster the boat regos and the number of people in the boats prior to Sunday.

All boats should be back through the lock by 4pm to avoid being stuck downstream.

Some people may partake in the run down to Pike Creek although they may not stay for the lunch. It is a good trip down to explore the other side of the lock, and Pike creek.

The Wine Centre management want to be conservative on numbers in the first year so they can stay on top of the numbers and make sure everybody gets looked after.

This run is approx 30km and with the Lock Experience it will take about 35 mins from Renmark to the Winery location (time it for yourself preparing for your return voyage).

Now Important Fact – we are planning to enter the lock at about 10:30am on the trip downstream. If you miss the Lock on the return You Will Be Stranded Downstream until the next day on the way back that afternoon or you make alternate arrangements. You need to be there at 4pm at latest to be safe.

The Riverland Wine Centre have limited numbers so please indicate your intention by return email to info@twister.com.au  We will confirm your request by return email.

They have the capacity to transport limited numbers by bus from the riverbank to their facility where you can experience some local wine and wood oven pizzas.

We will have our event photographer Bob Taylor at the boat ramp from 8am onwards and Peter Crisp in his regular eagles nest spot at Headings Lookout. Give Peter a wave when you see him.
